AFLA has designed, and implemented, new gardens for a specialist dementia unit for the St Monica Trust. The gardens are laid out in a circular path with inter-connecting routes, allowing residents to wander without ever coming to a dead end. The planting concept is based on the journey of life, from birth to death, with plants selected on the basis of colour, form, scent and interest. Other features include an aviary, archways, croquet lawn and bowling green as well as a miniature allotment garden complete with raised beds and a potting shed.

A number of Elderly Care projects have been recognized by awards; in these schemes, AFLA designed the landscape element as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
